hoofbeats! radio - History

The first ever broadcast was Dec 2, 2007 and week after week hoofbeats! radio has delivered outstanding media coverage promoting equine/equestrian interests to a broad listenership, while educating and entertaining a variety of participants in a variety horse-related industries. Now brought to the airwaves by a growing number of volunteer contributors/columnists, hoofbeats! radio is expanding to a 2 hour show, out of 2 NCRA stations, starting in Dec 2008.

, Print JournalistIn her column “Horse Tales” for the Fergus-Elora News Express, she wrote the article “Local 13 year old hosts weekly radio show segment.*” featuring Nikky’s recurring breed report column. Reportedly, the reporter gushed to her younger mentor, “You are doing my dream. Radio.” Heather, the teen’s mom interupted “uh, have you tried talking to Kim?”. The 13 year old reporter Nikky Grobbo suggested she drop off a copy of the newspaper to CFRU, where Kim Logue was acting as Spoken Word Coordinator for CFRU. She was recruited! (May 14, 2008, Vol 15, Issue 20. Serving the Centre Wellington Area for Over 150 yrs.) The News Express is a weekly, paid-circulation newspaper serving Wellington county, particularly the Township of Centre Wellington's Fergus and Elora. It was established in 1852. Subscribers from Fergus and Elora (Ontario, Canada) look forward to receiving their Fergus Elora News Express every Wednesday.
The History of Horsica, Jessica Miller MuchMusic Staff/ Trained BroadcasterJessica came on board right away, and taught us how to make good radio, just from the reports she sent in. First she would talk into her cell phone and e-mail it somehow, and eventually she had her husband doing a voice over on a catchy music bed intro for detailed, educational reports sent through sendspace, that we still replay and learn from.

The Kelly's, Dallas, Marianne and ClaireRecently we have not heard enough of the voice of Kelly Kay, Our Equine Events Listings Reporter and/or Kelly M, who brings us Standardbred Showcase, during the racing season. We are hoping to hear T-Track news soon as well as other entertaining interviews.
